A Suite Escape at The Lighthouse Marina Resort in Subic

What could be more desirable than a night (or two) in a place where the food is great, the view is magnificent, and the room is cozy? What could be more elating than being with your better half in an en suite Jacuzzi and a dinner aboard a sailboat?

It is not necessary to go to Mars and spend a fortune just so you could have it all. Just board a Victory Liner bus in Manila bound to Olongapo City and be ready with the various once-in-a-lifetime experiences you will encounter.

About a 3-hour scenic drive, the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) can easily be reached either by public or private transportation. The outskirts are lined with a multitude of villas and boutique hotels, including the famous The Lighthouse Marina Resort.

Upon arrival at the bus terminal -- either in Olongapo City or inside SBFZ -- the friendly staff of the Lighthouse Marina Resort will be glad to fetch you and bring you to paradise.

The Lighthouse Marina Resort is a boutique hotel along the shores of Subic Bay. You will be welcomed with their friendly staff (believe me, they smile a lot all the time. And I mean all of them!)in their posh high-ceiling lobby. You will be assisted all the way up to your room. A refreshing welcome drink will be served while you are settling down.

The Aqua Spa Suites has a veranda with a picturesque view of Subic Bay and the nearby islands and coves. The best thing about this suite is the en suite Jacuzzi and the rainshower. It is as if you are in a private spa. One side of the bathroom’s wall is a glass panel with built-in blinds that you can easily pull up or down, perfect for couples who are in for a sweet voyage. It also has a king-sized bed and a 41” flatscreen TV for your lazy laid back days.

Food inside the resort is not a problem. The Lighthouse Marina Resort prides itself for being able to setup your dinner wherever, whenever you want it. Be it on a sailboat, in the Cigar Room, atop the view deck or by the poolside or beachfront, their staff from Sands Al Fresco or 720 London Bar will be glad to make your wish come true. As a guest, you are also entitled to free cocktails while you enjoy the sunset by the poolside. At night, people having buffet at Sands Al Fresco can enjoy the romantic tunes of the piano.  Capping the night is a serving of pastries and hot coffee, tea or chocolate. The breakfast buffet spread has a wide variety of choices. I enjoyed the cheese and cold cuts selection that includes smoked salmon, prosciutto, brie, gruyere, edam and blue cheese. There’s an omelet bar where you can have eggs cooked the way you want it.

A romantic dinner can be set up here in the Cigar Room

Or by the pool.

Now, who needs to go to Mars when our planet is just perfect!
