Greens, greens and greens!!!

Ever Bilena Original Eyeliners (Black & Brown)

I remember the good old days when my mom still goes to work and is obliged to put on makeup. I am 4 years old that time, and I would always get her lipstick and eyeshadow and put it on my face, making me look like a clown. What amazes me most is how she puts eyeliner with ease, as if she's just drawing something on her eyes. No tears. No smudges Just a perfect seamless line. And throughout the day, you will never see her with raccoon eyes. Take note, she is not fond of retouching.

So when I became addicted to makeup, I always told myself, I shouldn't be afraid of eyeliners. These pencils should not make me cry. I practiced and practiced until I perfected the craft. Now the next question is, what eyeliner to use? I spent years of trying out different eyeliners. Different brands, some expensive, some are not.
Little did I realize that I will go back to the old trusted eyeliner of my mother - Ever Bilena Original Eyeliner.

Pros:
Affordable at Php 68 for a short pencil and Php 80 for a longer one.
Widely-avaialable
Does not give me raccoon eyes

Cons:
Can tug eyelids.
You have to swipe it many times before the color shows off
Only has 2 colors, black and brown
Brown has red undertones and may make your eyes look tired.

 Pros:
Affordable

Cons:
Drying, so chapped lips might get worse
Not transfer-resistant
Has tendency to turn orangey (at least for me)
Since it's affordable, it is often sold out

The Indian Secret to Dark, Healthy Hair: Dabur Amla Oil

I've been battling with hair fall since I started exposing my hair to chemical treatments (rebonding, relaxing, coloring and daily blow drying). I have coarse wavy hair, that's why it is a must for me to have my hair blown dry everyday, otherwise I will look hideous. I noticed that day by day, I see more and more falling hair wherever and whenever I comb my locks. So I tried anti-hair fall shampoos, conditioners and treatments. Again, all chemical-based. In short, I figured out it just worsened the case. Until I learned about Dabur Amla Oil from my officemate, who has very nice, dark, long and shiny hair. She told me she's been using this for a long time, at night before she sleeps. So I told her to buy me one the next time she would go to the Indian store.

Amla or Indian gooseberry, is a sacred tree in India. It is believed to have many benefits such as: enhances food absorption, balances stomach acid, fortifies the liver, nourishes the brain and mental functioning, supports the heart, strengthens the lungs, regulates elimination, enhances fertility, helps the urinary system, is good for the skin, promotes healthier hair, acts as a body coolant, flushes out toxins, increases vitality, strengthens the eyes, improves muscle tone and it acts as an antioxidant.

Amla is used in many hair tonics as it enriches hair growth and hair pigmentation. It strengthens roots of hair , maintains color and luster. Perhaps this is the reason why Indians have really nice and dark hair.

Pros:
Stimulates hair growth and prevents hair fall
Strengthens hair strands
Not chemical-based
Affordable
A bottle can last for a long time

Cons:
It has an earthy smell
Only available in Indian stores

Even my Aunt and my Mom love this hair tonic! Will I repurchase? Yes!

Why I LOVE Nuffnang

I have been a blogger for a couple of years, and it is only when I became a Nuffnanger that I can actually say I am now a full-pledged blogger. With Nuffnang, I am updated with the latest news in the blogging community. I was also able to hone my writing skills and at the same time join Nuffnang contests. Of course, Nuffnang also helped me see and understand my blog  statistics, not to mention that there is also possible earnings with Nuffnang! Nuffnang for me is not just about blog ads, its a holistic approach to blogging, with a balance on both technical and networking aspects. This is why i love Nuffnang.

This Saturday, another thing to be grateful to Nuffnang is that they are having the.... tadaaaa!

it's gonna be a time for me to share the Nuffnang goodness to my family. i, together with my husband, daughter Akisha and Ate Boda (a total of 4 pax) will be there on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Crosswinds Tagaytay. We will be joining the Nuffbus from the The Fort. I'm sure Akisha will be delighted with the fun activities Nuffnang is preparing for all Nuffnangers!

I've been looking for a dupe of Chanel nail polish in Jade and so I grabbed this - Colour Trends "Spotted". It is a bit darker than Chanel Jade and is a bit shimmery. But it's flattering and perfect for a beach getway!

Red Alert: Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Lipstick in Lava Love

Another good find is Avon Ultra Moisture Lipstick in Lava Love. It is a bold red with slight orange undertone. It's perfect when paired up with curled lashes and 2 coats of mascara.

Will post a lip swatch soon!

Red Alert: Avon Ultra Moisture Rich 24k Gold Lipstick in Golden Wine

I have always been a fan of Catherine Zeta-Jones. Her big bouncy curls, dramatic eyes and most especially her signature look, bold red wine lips. I've been wanting to try red lipstick on me,however, each time I try red lipsticks in beauty counters, I feel I look older.

But since red lips are having a comeback nowadays (thanks to Anne Kurtis and Anne Hathaway), I told myself, this is the time to get out of the box and have bold lips like them.

Coincidentally, Avon Ultra Moisture Rich 24K Gold Lipstick is now on sale (May 2011) for almost half the price, so I decided to order one. I had a hard time choosing between Ruby in Gold, Golden Raisin and Golden Wine. But since I am after the Catherine Zeta-Jones look, I decided to get Golden Wine. At Php 249, I can say this is a steal.

The color is a lovely wine red that is perfect for day and night. it's not too bold, but its dark. It's perfect for both with cool and warm undertones. From the name itself, it has gold flecks that are not glittery. It somehow gives dimension to your lips. For me, this is better than matte as it is not too flat.

The consistency is creamy and glides well. It is very pigmented, so I think it will last long on the lips. I remember having a hard time removing it using facial tissue. Here is a lip swatch:

For reference, I am NC30. Below are some of the Catherine Zeta-Jones pegs that I love.

Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub

I've been literally sun-baking myself for the past few months. I love being tanned and sunkissed...but I hate sunburns and post-sunburn peeling. So I went to Watson's and searched for a body scrub which I shall use to amplify skin exfoliation.

I was about to get my ever-reliable St. Ives Apricot Scrub when I saw this -Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub - at the shelves. The name rings a bell. Ahah! I read it from Girltalk before! So I read the packaging and got interested. I grabbed one and tossed my St. Ives Apricot Scrub for a change.

"Lulur" is a javanese beauty ritual made to a bride before her wedding. The bride is always the center of attention during a wedding, so she must be stunning and radiant for the special day, hence she is pampered with 'lulur'.

The Product:

Pros
Moisturizing, as this is a creme-based body scrub
Smells good
Granules are just enough to exfoliate, not too rough.
*It helped bring back my original skin color
Affordable at P80, small tub, I've been using mine for a month now

Cons

If you are not into floral scents, this might not be for you
*Been using this every other day, for a month now.
