We are having our Glitz and Glam Hollywood Xmas Party this weekend and I've been searching for a look that I can replicate. Here's what I want to achive:

I just need a little help from you guyz for completing my stash for this look. In Troy Jensen's blog (click here), he uses NARS stuff for this look. And that's gonna be holdup for me if i'll get all those. Although I hope Santa is reading my blog and he will give me those eye candies. So far, what I have in my stash are:

NARS Firming Foundie in Santa Fe
NARS Schiap
Dior Lipgloss
Fanny Serrano Black Gel Eyeliner
NARS Oragsm Blush
NARS Silvana Blush
Some black and silver eyeshadows from Fashion 21 but I want an exact dupe of NARS Night Breed single eyeshadow.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer NW30

And I need good brushes!!!

If you guyz happen to know some dupes or alternatives to what have been used in this look, please feel free to comment. It will be a great help for me. =)

Hope to hear from you guyz!

NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Schiap

Still part of my Hollywood look, I passed by Lara’s counter yesterday and was originally planning to get NARS Roman Holiday Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. But since it is out of stock, the ever chikadora Lara recommended NARS Schiap instead. It was so scary when you see it on display because this is a very hot pink lipstick, just like Barbie’s lips. But when Lara taught me how to make it more sophisticated when applied, i did not pass the chance to grab one. Lara dabbed NARS Schiap on my lips and smudge it using Turkish Delight lip gloss. He then showed me the resemblance of Schiap + Turkish Delight combo and Roman Holiday as he put Roman Holiday on my bottom lips. And believe me, they really look the same! Plus, since it is semi-matte, the staying power is better than Roman Holiday which has a sheer formula. Lara, dear, you are an angel that brings color to our lips and cheeks!!!

Of course, he gave me a cream eyeshadow in Nomad and 2 tunes of the firming foundation in Santa Fe. I also road tested NARS Gilda blush and will sure get this one before the end of this year. Next lippie project: Jungle Red or Cruella? Lara, help!

Charles & Keith Pink Sexy Shoes

There are only three things I really splurge on. I really don’t mind spending for sumptuous food. I also have weird cravings most of the time and when cravings hit me, I really go out of my way to satisfy it.

Second, I really invest on good makeup and skin care. Makeup is one thing that can really make my day no matter how down am I. For me, I can skip on expensive clothes but I cannot pass on a really nice blush or lippie. Skin care and makeup touches and penetrate my skin, the clothes will just linger and go out of style in time. But don’t get me wrong. I just do not prioritize clothes; or rather I just won’t choose clothes over makeup. I have nothing against the clothes/wardrobe enthusiasts. I also like clothes, but just the classic pieces. Like LBD’s, unique cuts, polo shirts, denim pants. I am not into prints by the way. I love solid colors. It is so ironic that aside from black, all the rest of the colors inside my closet are vavavooom loud colors like fuschia, canary yellow and purple.

The reason why I like LBD’s or classic ensembles is because of my third fetish- Shoes. If makeup makes my day, a nice pair of shoes put me into cloud nine. And now meet my new baby:

Yesterday, I was looking for a nice pair of shoes to match my new asymmetric dress from Ilaya. I will be wearing these on our Hollywood Glitz & Glamour Party on Dec. 19. Yes, you guess it right. The dress I was referring to is an LBD again. Just so I can really play with shoes and makeup and pull off that red carpet look.
I love love love the color of my new sexy sandals from Charles & Keith! And I got it for only Php 1,799! I was originally thinking of getting a nice gladiator pair from Renegade folk or Possibility at The Ramp but when I saw these, OMG! Can’t help but get it.
Plus, these pair is so comfy that I do not feel I am wearing 3-inch heels at all!
Next target: A chic bootie and a nice embellished flats.

Medi-Facial and Diamond Peel at Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting Institute

I got two Contours Privilege Cards when I attended the Anniversary of Business Mirror in Fiamma, Bel Air, Makati. The card entitles the cardholders to various discounts on Contours services and products and part of the perks of this card is a free Medi-Facial and Diamond Peel. Since hubby and I have nothing to do last Saturday, we decided to drop by Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting Institute at Paseo de Magallanes, Makati City.

Their Medi-Facial like any other facial starts with cleansing and exfoliation, followed by steam and extraction. Nothing special. But wait until I tell you about their diamond peel. I must say that their diamond peel is one of the nicest DP’s I’ve experienced. It really made my skin super smooth after the treatment. Even hubby who has large pores noticed that his pores were minimized and his oiliness subsided. Their diamond peel really delivers results. Plus, the extraction the attendant did was not harsh at all. They are so careful and sensitive about what their clients feel. The Medi-Facial costs Php 800 and Php 3,000 if with diamond peel.

Me, after the treatment

Definitely I am coming back to Contours for another Medi-Facial and diamond peel. Luckily, the privilege card also has 50% discount on facial services, so that slashes Php 3,000 to a whopping Php 1,500 per session! The only disadvantage I see with Contours is its accessibility since it is in Paseo de Magallanes. But if you are from the South, I don’t think that would be a problem.

Shu Uemura Red:Juvenus Line Review

As promised, here is my review of Shu Uemura’s Red Juvenus Line.
Again, I was so lucky to get a travel set of this new age prevention line from Shu Uemura. Included in the travel set is the Red Juvenus Vitalizing Refining Lotion, Vitalizing Retexturizing Emulsion, Intense Vitalizing Concentrate and Vitalizing Retexturizing Cream. It comes in a simple black pouch bag that I know use as my kikay kit.

The Red Juvenus line contains 3 powerhouse red ingredients: Amalaki, Pomegranate and Lycopene Capsule 2x.
Amalaki is a fruit considered to have most rejuvenating power. it is also one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C while containing flavonoids, polyphenols and carotenoids.

Pomegranate is known as a vital fruit for youth & beauty, containing flavonoids and polyphenols.

Lycopene Capsule 2X is lycopene with a patented encapsulation technology to deliver nutrients 2 times deeper into skin.

I am using this product for more than 2 weeks now and so far I am loving the results. After washing my face with my Forever Flawless SAS soap (since I am having breakouts lately), I put the Red Juvenus Vitalizing Refining Lotion.

RED:JUVENUS VITALIZING REFINING LOTION is a light, refreshing gel-like lotion to replenish skin intensively for radiant skin that feels energized and revitalized. Immediately skin looks radiant and feels more elastic. Within one week skin looks younger & rejuvenated. (www.shuuemura-usa.com)
At first, this refining lotion looks and feels oily but when applied and absorbed by the skin, it just makes your skin uber supple and feels totally rehydrated. I love the fact that I can even put it around the eye area. It replenishes lost moisture without the oily effects. I even tried to use this in the morning and it did not added shine especially to my oily T-zone.

RED:JUVENUS INTENSE VITALIZING CONCENTRATE is a lightweight, translucent gel fluid essence with highest amount of Phyto-Red Energy Complex for visible correction of fine lines and immediate radiance. (www.shuuemura-usa.com)
After applying Vitalizing Refining Lotion, I put a pea-sized amount of Intense Vitalizing Concentrate, This one has a dropper so it is very easy to get the right amount of product you need. It is very concentrated, too! I like using this during those times that I feel my skin has been exposed to air pollution, sun, etc. It actually acts as my prevention for further damage cause by free radicals. Like when I am exposed to sun for a long period I see to it that I use this at night to replenish whatever nutrients were stripped off my skin. Though I do not recommend using this in daytime, especially if you are oily. This tends to make my T-zone oily. So I just use it at bedtime.

RED:JUVENUS VITALIZING RETEXTURING EMULSION is a gentle fluid moisturizer that enwraps skin with long-lasting moisture. Fine lines & first wrinkles are significantly reduced. Immediately skin feels plump, smoother and more refined. Within one week, skin looks healthy and feels more resistant. (www.shuuemura-usa.com)

RED:JUVENUS VITALIZING RETEXTURING CREAM is a soothing gel-cream texture to seal skin with long-lasting moisture and nourishment. Fine lines & first wrinkles are significantly reduced. Immediately skin feels plump, smoother and more refined. Within four weeks, skin looks younger, healthy and feels more resistant. (www.shuuemura-usa.com)
After putting the Intense Vitalizing Concentrate, I usually choose between the Retexturizing Cream and Retexturizing Emulsion. I personally prefer the cream version than the emulsion because it is lightweight and does not feel greasy. The emulsion is ideal for use at night, at least for me because it delivers ample moisture to the skin. The cream on the other hand is a gel-cream moisturizer that is lightweight and does not feel greasy on me. I also like its light scent than the emulsion because the emulsion smells “chemical-ish” for me.

The Red Juvenus Vitalizing Line Reducing Eye Essence is not included in the travel kit I got but the description appeals promosing to me. I hope I can try this one soon.

RED:JUVENUS VITALIZING LINE REDUCING EYE ESSENCE is a light fresh texture formulated to gently & actively target fine lines & dark circles for the delicate eye contours. Immediately skin feels more supple and total surface of fine lines are significantly diminished. Within four weeks dark circles are improved. (www.shuuemura-usa.com)
Overall, I think Red Juvenus line will become a staple especially in my nighttime skin care routine. I would probably repurchase the Vitalizing Refining Lotion and the Vitalizing Retexturizing Cream. Though the Red Juvenus line is a bit pricey, I think it’s worth it. Because you can never buy back your natural youthful glow once ageing comes your way.

Jurlique’s Embrace Graceful Ageing Workshop at Marionnaud

I got a text from Marionnaud last week and since I was on leave last October 16 (Friday), I decided to drop by Marionnaud in SM Mall of Asia to attend the Jurlique’s Embrace Graceful Ageing Workshop. I was one of the earliest who came in so while waiting, the staff of Jurlique gave me a very relaxing 20 minute facial. During this facial, the staff talked about a little background about the Jurlique products.

Jurlique is an Australian brand that creates skin care products out of organically grown ingredients using Biodynamic farming. Their products are quite expensive, but because of its ingredients, the price is worth it.Photo Credit: www.jurlique.com.au

Even before this workshop, I was able to try Jurlique’s Lavender Hydrating Mist in Greenbelt 5. I love this mist as it is not only very refreshing but the scent is very uplifting as well. Not to mention the fact that I am a big fan of all things lavender. It has hydrating properties so I can use it as a toner cum moisturizer. It can also set makeup just like Evian Facial Mist. The only con I can see with this product is its bottle because it looks heavy and fragile.

Another stuff I love in Jurlique’s product line-up is their Citrus Silk Finishing Powder. After the express facial they did on me, the staff put this powder to set everything. The workshop started at 2pm and I went home at around 8pm. Still, I didn’t see any shine on my face, even on my stubborn T-zone. So this gets a thumps up from me! The powder is super fine that it looks almost similar to Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Powder (which I’ve been lemming to have). The finish is very true to its name, so silky.

After the workshop, I was given a loot bag with three sample sachets of other Jurlique products: Balancing Day Cream, Balancing Foaming Cleanser and Rose Hand Cream. Of the three, I was only able to try the Balancing Day Cream yet. I’ll post a review of the other two products soon.
Jurlique’s Balancing Day Cream has a very thick, creamy consistency. It indeed hydrates your skin. Although in the mid-afternoon, I feel that my T-zone is starting to get some sheen on it. So if you are oily, this one is not for you. I think this one is for people with normal and combination skin types. The scent though is very nice and sweet. It reminds me of The Body Shop’s Shea Body Butter. It also brightened my face that I have to put more in my neck so as not to make my décolletage look darker. For me, even though it’s a Day Cream, I’d rather use this at night to soothe my skin and replenish its lost moisture during the day.

The Jurlique people was generous enough that they even entitled every participant to a hand massage. There, I was able to try the Lavender Hand Cream. I love love love lavender. It made my hand soft and smooth without feeling greasy. This one adds up to my list of favorite Jurlique products.
With this, I was able to justify why their products are a bit expensive as their products are of good quality and deliver nice results.

Clinique 3-Step Skin Care

I was one of the lucky Cosmo October 2009 readers who was given a chance to try Clinique’s 3-Step skin care. I went on the Clinique counter in Rustan’s Makati and one of the SA’s there asked a few questions to determine my skin type. Surprisingly, she concluded that I have Dry Combination skin. All the while I thought my skin is combination, but more on the oily side. I was surprised that I have Dry Combination skin. Clinique’s definition of Dry Combination skin is that skin that’s oily on the T-zone and uncomfortably dry on the cheeks. Well, that’s my skin, so I guess the SA is right.

So the product sample she gave me was based on her conclusion that I have Skin Type 2, Dry Combination. She gave me three sample vials. One is a mild liquid facial soap, another is the Clarifying Lotion 2 and one vial of Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. The sample is good for a week or two. After about ten days of using the samples, here is my review on Clinique 3-Step Skin Care for Skin Type 2 or Dry Combination.

Step 1: Cleanse

Liquid Facial Soap – the SA said that if I always wear makeup, I should use a separate makeup remover. Well, she’s right, because this cleanser is a very mild cleanser. If you are the type of person who always wears mascara or eyeshadow, better take it off with your makeup remover because this cleanser is not designed to take those off. It also cleans your skin without depriving it of moisture. After washing my face, it feels clean but hydrated enough as well. Bottom line, after washing my face with this one, my skin doesn’t feel any tightness at all.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Clarifying Lotion 2 – I love this toner as it again, does not overdry my skin. It is very refreshing as it has a cooling effect when applied to skin. I haven’t checked its actual ingredients but I can smell Witch Hazel which makes me believe it can help healing my occasional breakouts. And It did. When I used this toner, I have two zits on my forehead and on my chin and it dried up quickly. I know somehow that the toner helped.

Step 3: Moisturize

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion – I am not a big fan of cream moisturizers, my readers know that. But this moisturizer dramatically changed the way I looked at cream moisturizers. It is not oil-free yet I am comfortable using this even at day time. It just delivers the right amount of moisture my thirsty skin needs. Though I am ok to use it at day time, I specifically use this at night because I use a tinted moisturizer when I am at work. It didn’t give me breakouts unike the other cream moisturizers I tried. I even tried to use it as a hand cream and it is perfect as well. If I am sold at this moisturizer, I wonder how good its Dramatically Different Moisturizer Gel sister is? Given a chance to try the gel version, I would be more than willing to use and give a review about it. As I adore gel moisturizers to the highest level!

Elemente USA Lavender Silky Facial Lotion

I am so lucky I am working in a company where I learn a lot of things about health, wellness and beauty. Lucky because I was able to try new products even before it reaches the Philippine market. For more than a year now, I am handling Elemente USA line, a skin care and cosmetics brand under E. Excel International. And honestly, I am loving the products, bias aside. I am not reviewing these products for my company’s sake. But I am doing this because I am satisfied with the results of the products and the benefits it gives to me, especially to my skin.

Since I know that very few ones know about this line, I might as well give a background on Elemente USA. Elemente USA as I have said, is a skin care and cosmetics line under the E.Excel International umbrella. E. Excel is originally a manufacturer of nutritionally superior herbal foods. All its products are manufactured upon the principles of what we call “Nutritional Immunology”. It is the relationship of the food we eat to our immune system. Its founder, Dr. Jau Fei Chen later ventured into skin care and cosmetic products that still embody the whole Nutritional Immunology principles. Thus, the birth of Elemente USA. All Elemente USA products contains Oxyginberry Complex, a patented ingredient that works in synergy to maintain a healthy, glowing skin. Oxyginberry Complex is composed of six potent ingredients:

Ginseng Berry. When applied topically, it helps increase hydration and elasticity of the skin while delaying signs of premature aging.

Cactus Fruit. An excellent source of skin nourishing nutrients such as riboflavin, vitamin A, B1, D3 and B12. Also plays a significant role in promoting cell repair and renewal.

Cactus. Known to have detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties, which speeds up wound healing and improves the appearance of scars. When applied to the skin, it acts as a moisturizer and helps prevent water loss from the stratum corneum layer of the skin.

Grape Seed. A potent source of OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidin), a very strong antioxidant that has 20 times more antioxidant activity than Vitamin C and has 50 times more antioxidant activity than Vitamin E. It is very effective in protecting cells against DNA damage.

Rose. Enhances beauty by lightening pigmentation for a smoother, fairer complexion. It also has high concentration of antioxidants and nutrients such as ascorbic acid, niacin, flavonoids and vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, E & K. It also contains 50 times more vitamin C than lemon, which enhances the body’s ability to produce collagen.

Seaweed has amazing skin rejuvenation properties and has the ability to help increase the production of integrin, a protein that helps in cell regeneration, skin repair, skin elasticity and firmness. It acts as an emollient by restoring moisture to the skin. It also has fucoidan, which promotes better blood circulation and excretion of toxins from
the skin. Its molecular weight is extremely small, which enables the nutrients to penetrate the skin easily.

I will discuss more of Oxyginberry Complex in my next posts. I do not want to put all of you into info-overload mode.

This year, Elemente USA launches another interesting series, The Lavender Essentials Series launched at SMX Convention Center last October 10, 2009. The line is composed of Lavender Essence, Lavender Essence Shower Gel, Lavender Silky Facial Lotion and Lavender Body Treatment Lotion. Again, I do not want to put all of you into info-overload mode, so I will discuss my most favorite product for the meantime – Lavender Silky Facial Lotion.

According to the official description I got from the international office, Lavender Silky Facial Lotion is formulated for delicate skin. It is rich in natural botanical essences and lavender essences to soothe the skin. Its lightweight texture makes it especially refreshing to apply in hot weather. Suitable for all skin types and loved by both men and women.
I fell in-love immediately with this product when my boss let me try it for the first time. It is dry-touch, and has smooth, silky finish. The scent is very uplifting as I love Lavender scents. It is ok to use even if you have oily skin. It works as a base for your makeup or you can set it with powder for that fresh no make-up look. I love using this when I want my skin to rest from all the hazardous makeups I’ve been using during workdays. The only con I see with this product is that it does not have SPF content. So I still use Elemente USA’s Hydro Protective Sunscreen with SPF 30 or the sunblock gel I got from my derma before this one if I am about to go outdoors. Also, if you have dry skin, better use a separate moisturizer prior to using this one. It also brightens your skin instantly as its molecular weight is so tiny that it can penetrate your skin immediately, thus giving visible results.
Watch out for my reviews on the other Elemente products. I am having a hard time choosing which one to write about next because I love most of them. Again, bias aside. I just write those products that I really use and love.

NARS Blush in Silvana

I’ve been watching the series “Lipstick Jungle” and I love the makeup of Victory Ford there. She’s always wearing a blush on the peach/ tan/ apricot side. And so I am guessing that one of those blushes she uses is NARS Silvana. And finally, I got one for myself. It is also my first time to meet Lara of NARS Shang Tower who was very famous in Girltalk for being a very nice and accommodating MA.
Of course, the very next day I immediately used it in the office. I paired it with one of my MAC technakohls (Smoothblue) and NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick and Dior Lipgloss. See my look below: Face:
Olay Total Effects A Touch of Foundation
ELF Mineral Foundation in Light
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW30 for my undereyes

Eyes:
MAC Technakohl in Smoothblue
Cheeks:
NARS Silvana

Lips:
NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick
Dior Lipgloss
(It doesn't have the shade written on the tube, I got it as a gift from my boss =P )

Evaluation??? I so love love love NARS Silvana, More than my NARS Orgasm. It just gives me the perfect sunkissed look. It has the glow but less the shimmer, which is why I like it more than Sertao or Luster. So Victory Fordish! Plus I can pair it with neutral e/s or even smoky or bold eye makeup. Very versatile for me. I can even use it for contouring my cheeks then top with NARS orgasm for a pinkish glow.

Plus, there’s a freebie from Lara! She gave me NARS e/s in Indian Song which is a very nice neutral e/s. Hmmm, I noticed that I am beginning to like everything ‘Indian’ in NARS. Indian Summer, Indian Song, Indian Red... And I am beginning to like NARS over MAC. I do not know but I am being dragged to NARS everytime I attempt to go to MAC. Addiction, are you there???

E.L.F. Studio Angled Foundation Brush, Powder Brush and Fan Brush

I just got my E.L.F. loot from Whizdy of Girltalk. My loot includes E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush, Angled Foundation Brush and Fan Brush. I cannot wait but give a review of my haul. Though I will be giving a second round of review after I wash these brushes for perhaps 3 or 4 times. I will start by reviewing E.L.F. Studio Angled Foundation Brush.

When I ordered this one, I was actually thinking that it looks like MAC 168 because it looks the same in the photo (the difference is that MAC 168 is white and this one is black). But when I finally have it, it is indeed an angled foundation brush. It really looks like a flat foundation brush, just like E.L.F.’s foundation brush (sans the color), but the shape is slanted. The reason why I ordered this one is because I want a brush for contouring (using powder blush/bronzer). Since obviously I will not be able to use it as contouring brush for blush/bronzer, I decided to use it as, well, foundation brush with my gel foundation..

Surprisingly, I find it more efficient than my old round-edged foundation brush. With this one, I am able to reach even the corners of my face that are difficult to reach because of its angled shape. I was also able to use it as concealer brush eliminating my need for a precision concealer brush and a maximum concealer brush. This indeed simplified my foundation and concealer application.

I also tried it in applying my mineral foundation (wet application) and it works wonders, too!

Now let’s go to E.L.F.’s Powder Brush. This one is a synthetic flat top brush. I was hesitant to order this at first because I thought this is going to be a scratchy synthetic brush. But when I started using it, it is uber soft and it makes finishing powder application a lot easy. I like this more than my goat hair powder brush because this one is not scratchy at all (I will post another review after washing this bursh several times to validate its softness). The only ”con” I see with this brush is that it is not retractable and it’s a bit bulky compared to my ever reliable retractable kabuki brush.

The E.L.F. Studio Fan Brush is the last brush I was able to use from my new loot. I used this one to apply bronzer and I must say that this one is really good especially when you want to apply bronzer or blushes very lightly (in my case, I tried using G-Lish Bronzer in Caffeine Rush). This one is also good for contouring. I tried using this to contour my cheeks with Ellana Mineral Blush/Bronzer in Harmony and it really works well.

Again, these reviews are based from my initial usage of the three brushes. I will post another review once I washed these angels several times. By then, I will be able to say if these brushes are really not scratchy steals.

Hope to review other E.L.F. brushes soon!!!

Elemente USA Liquid Smudgeproof Eyeliner

I am really an eyeliner junkie. I just love the way a simple glide of eyeliner gives definition to my eyes. It gives enough drama and perks up my face at once. I usually use the conventional pencil eyeliners. When I tried using liquid eyeliner, I was disappointed because it is very hard to apply and it gave me uber raccoon eyes (I will not mention the brand anymore, please bear with me). Then I came across with this new liquid eyeliner from Elemente USA.

Elemente USA Liquid Smudgeproof Eyeliner is a felt-tip liquid eyeliner exclusively distributed by E. Excel International. Yes, it is not readily available in department stores and beauty shops because you can only get it if you are a distributor or if you buy from a distributor. But believe me; it is really worth the hunt.

As its name implies, it is a smudgeproof liquid eyeliner that glides on easily. Application is really easy and the packaging is very handy. You can apply it thinly for a seamless effect or you can apply it thickly for more drama. I like this one because it doesn’t give me raccoon eyes. It does not sting my eyes, too! You don’t have to shake or squeeze the tube because only the right amount of product will perfectly come out of it when you swipe it.

It comes in one color only, black. But I tell you, its color is just the right intensity of black, not too intense, just black. So it gives a more natural look. It does not look like you’ve lined your eyes with black ink.

Though it’s a bit pricey (Php 1,860), a tube can last a long long time because you will need too little every application. Plus it does not dry up in the tube easily.

Sometimes when I’m just too lazy, I just swipe this on my lashline and have a nice lippie and I’m all set!

I do not use it for my waterline though because my waterline is really sensitive. So for my waterline, I use Elemente Eye & Brow Definer in Dark Brown.
